At the very beginning of the class I expected that this course well all be talking about how the Church begun, and how Christ made the church and what is the church all about, because this is history. During first session of the class I had come to learn the history of the church and why should we study about it. Because honestly at first, I never cared about the history of the church, and for me as long as I have know Christ then that's enough. But I really thank God about this course though, because this thing had open up some close eyes of mine. Now, I am enjoying the history at the same time I learn things.
I had come to learn about the two person in the past namely, Ignatius and Polycarp which who also made an important role in Christianity. The first thing that I have learned is that this people are not just an ordinary people, first I really thought that they were just simply a Saint who played an important role to the Catholic. Second is that I never knew that James was the very first bishops, because Peter really made a stand to the church and that's what most people believe. I just heard it anyway so I am also one of the victims who believe the wrong statement or gossip. Now I have come to realize that I grew up believing to something that was never been true. I also now can see the importance of the history not just about the Bible but also to the church, and specially to the people whom God had used to preserve His word and the church.
Before I came to know Christ and even after, I mean before I had come to know and understand about Christianity I really don't care about religion and I don't care about other peoples belief. And I don't like people who just go to church without knowing the purpose of going. There was one time I asked my high school friend, "why do you go to church?" she simply answered me because she likes to, and it might lessen her sins as well. And for me that's very stupid reason, and I tend to judge Roman Catholic people, anyway that was me before. Now, I really do need to change my way of thinking towards Roman Catholic people, and change my perspective towards them. I also should have to learn more about churches.
First, I will ask God to help me change my way of thinking, and then I will study harder or more and learn from the past life of God's work towards the people in the history. And also give an importance to it, and not just let it pass away.
